Wedding of Samantha and Chris – Friday 27 April 2012

“Love Birds”

In the lead up to Samantha and Chris’ big day, it was obvious that Samantha was a chicky who knew exactly what she wanted for her big day and boy was she organised.

So we were by no means surprised when we called into Glengariff on our way to the boys to find the place looking Amazing! Samantha had gone to lengths to make sure everything was perfect and we were truly blown away at how beautiful everything looked. Love Birds was the theme and it was picture perfect

A few minutes drive north of Glengariff and we caught up with the boys at Paltarra Park Alpacas B&B. Chris and his mates were enjoying massages when we arrived (a special present organised by Samantha) and Chris proudly showed us his little gift for Samantha. A bag containing goodies from Tiffany and Co. Chris my friend, you make the rest of us look bad! As the saying goes though, happy wife happy life and Tina tells me you are well and truly heading in the right direction.

After spending an hour or so with the fellas, Tina, myself and our new videographer buddy Kelly headed off to meet the girls at the Kirnicama B&B. The girls were all busy having their final makeup touches applied when we arrived and each of them looked pretty snazzy in their “Bridesmaid” and “Bride” singlets

We were pretty excited to see Samantha’s face when her girls handed over Chris’ present and Samantha didn’t disappoint. A Tiffany bag certainly brought a massive smile to Samantha’s face!

Once our gorgeous bride was all dressed and ready to meet her man, we headed off to see Chris and the boys for some last minute shots before his lovely bride to be arrived.

All day the weather had looked a little iffy and wouldn’t you know it, it started to rain just as we were heading to Glengariff. They say its good luck if it rains on your wedding day and it was kinda romantic to see Samantha walking down the aisle with light rain droplets falling around her.

The rain kindly stayed away while the happy couple celebrated their love and took each others hand in marriage. The ceremony was really touching and there was certainly plenty of laughs from the happy couple.

Unfortunately the weather didn’t stay kind to us for very long and it was family photos and bridal party shots at super speed. Thanks again to Samantha and Chris’ families for allowing us to rush them through the pic list.

In the lead up to the big day, Samantha had indicated that she’d really love to do some night shots so after spending around 10mins out in the rain capturing a few shots before we lost light (poor Sammy and Chris – naughty rain!), we were then able to capture some cool sparkler shots. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of writing a big LOVE around the happy couple.

Samantha and Chris, we hope that your wedding day was everything you dreamt it would be and more. We truly enjoyed being part of your special day and would like to say a big thanks for allowing us to share in this occasion.

Rain, rain, go away……you aren’t gonna ruin this wedding day!

In the days leading up to Anna and David’s wedding,  Brisbane was copping an absolute drenching and as you may have read in our previous blog posts…….rain and cameras = no fun at all.

We woke to the big day on Saturday 28 January 2012 to find that it was still a rainy old day. Boohoo! But not to matter, with our wet weather plans previously sorted we packed our big umbrellas and a change of clothes (just in case!) and we were off to meet up with our gorgeous bride Anna.

Anna and the girls were all cheerfully prepping for the big occasion when we arrived at Anna’s family home.  All of Anna’s girls were ready and looking fabulous,  so it was all very relaxed while Anna’s hair and makeup was finalised.

It’s always great to watch as our lady of the moment is transformed into a gorgeous bride.

Thanks also goes out to Anna’s Mum and Dad for allowing us run of the house….particularly for allowing us to rearrange the furniture!

Once we’d finished shooting our bride (hehehe) and her lovely bridesmaids,  we were off to meet up with David and the boys at Hills Church, Everton Park.

David was all smiles when we arrived and was very eager to hear all about his stunning bride Anna.  Tina loves telling the groom how gorgeous his bride is looking
Hills Church was a great location for their wedding,  with heaps of space and the lighting made for some really great photographs.  The band was also super awesome.

Anna and David had opted to do something a little different,  by cutting their cake immediately following their ceremony and enjoying some relaxing beverages with family and friends before heading off on our location photos adventure.

We had planned some really cool photo locations at Walkabout Creek and nearby parks however gum boots and a big umbrella wouldn’t have been enough to save us from the rain/rain puddles.  So…instead we decided to use the gorgeous UQ at St Lucia.

Wedding photos at UQ St Lucia is always a fantastic option with the Great Court’s beautiful sandstone buildings.   It gives off such a romantic feel to the photos and what more could you ask for.

After some fun at UQ,  we were off to Walkabout Creek for the happy couples reception.  The team at Walkabout Creek did a wonderful job with the reception venue and the big “Mr and Mrs O” was a great touch to the bridal table.

Anna and David,  we hope that you had a wonderful wedding day and we truly appreciate being given the opportunity to share in this special occasion. We wish you all the happiness in the world and we hope that you’ve enjoyed the sneak peek at your gorgeous wedding photos.

Cheeky Groom + Gorgeous Bride + Heron Island = Bewdiful Destination Wedding!!!!!!!

So Tina, Isaac and I were off to Heron Island this past weekend to photograph the wedding of Courtney and Calum on the 15th October 2011.  This was Isaac’s very first destination wedding (although he’s a bit little to shoot yet….give him another year or two!) and Tina’s first shoot back after welcoming our little monster into our lives.  Eight months is a lot of creative energy build up for Tina so she couldn’t wait to get snapping away.

After a plane trip and a two hour boat journey via the Heron Islander,  we finally landed on the stunning Heron Island.   This place is absolutely picture perfect – crystal clear waters and coral reef right off the Heron Island Resort door step.  What else could you ask for!

What started as a postcard perfect day on the Friday,  quickly turned into a feral freaky storm on the morning of the big day.  Tina and I were more than a little nervous to be honest.   Yeah we can deal with a shower here and there but thunder, lighting and bucketing down rain……that’s a different story all together.  Cameras and big rain = sad cameras and sad photographers

While eating breakfast in the resorts restaurant,  we were kicking into emergency backup plan drive and decided – we need to see Abi ASAP.

So who is Abi you may ask, well Abi is the resorts Fabulous (yes with a captial “F” cause she’s fantastic) Wedding/Groups Coordinator.  Abi could not have been more helpful from our very first email contact right through to showing us around the island and walking through her ideas for wet weather plans.  I wonder if we could clone Abi and take her with us to all of the venues we shoot at……….hmmm.

In the end our prayers for good weather were certainly answered as the day turned into an absolutely gorgeous spring day.  The colours and natural lighting were just perfect for photographing weddings.  We felt so lucky to end up with perfect weather and an awesome couple to photograph.

Now, on to the fun stuff – the wedding……..

When writing blogs I often try to think of ways of introducing you to our couples,  a brief description of what we see as their photographers.  Well with these guys,  its simple….love.

Amongst all the planning and chaos that goes along with a destination wedding,  these guys just seemed so calm.  Even with the crazy weather we faced on the Saturday morning,  neither Calum nor Courtney were even the least bit concerned.  They were cool, calm and collected; they were just stoked to be getting married to each other.  That to us is a perfect example of what marriage is all about,  it doesn’t matter if the plans don’t go exactly right…..its all about saying I-DO to the person you love.

We first caught up with Calum and the fellas whilst they relaxed with a few beverages by the pool and had a quick game of chess.  Chess you ask? Where else can you play chess with kiddie size chess pieces and views out over a coral reef – it was an obvious place for some chillaxin before the nuptials. We even got the man of the moment to give us his best supermodel poses – which of course were egged on by the boys.

Courtney and her lovely girls were busy with their final touches when we arrived at the islands Beach House.  We quickly saw the awesome photo opportunities provided by the private beach access and decided this would be the perfect backdrop for photos with the girls.  Courtney had previously mentioned how much she loved the forest areas on the island so we were over the moon with the natural setting of the Beach House.

Tina always raves about her favourite moment of a ceremony being the groom’s first look at his stunning bride and Calum didn’t disappoint.  He even fought the urge to sneak a look as Courtney walked through the shrub lined path to the poolside ceremony area.   Calum’s expression and telling Courtney she looked beautiful when she finally reached him,  just magic!

As photographers we have the pleasure of witnessing, and capturing, those cute candid moments each couple share during their ceremony that often go unnoticed by family and friends.  For Courtney and Calum,  the cheeky moment we got on film was Calum licking his lips as Anne Donaghey said “you may kiss your bride”.   Hahaha, gotcha Cal

Well we could rave on and on about how much fun we had with Courtney, Calum and their family and friends but at the end of the day……the photos tell it all.

Courtney and Calum…..thanks so much for letting us be part of this very special moment in your life.  We hope that the images help you to remember all of those little moments that will remain forever in your heart.

Nigel and TIna

Jessica and Reece were married at the Capricorn Resort, Yeppoon on Saturday 21st May 2011.

We first met up with the boys in their room at the resort as they were frantically trying to organise a set of pants that fit one of the groomsmen. Luckily Lowes cames through with the goods and everybody had fitting black slacks in time for the ceremony.

Next it was off to see the girls who were nice and relaxed while waiting in their room, also at the resort. They helped Jessica into her beautiful dress and had fun with some photos. When the girls were dressed and ready, we headed on down to the resorts chapel perched on the dunes looking over the beach.

Location photos were also taken in various places around the resort grounds and the beach. After the sun went down on another great day on the capricorn coast it was time to head into the reception.

Congratulations on your wedding Jessica and Reece.

Brooke and Ben were married on the riverside lawn at Eves on the River, Brisbane on Saturday the 30th of April 2011.

Brooke and her bridesmaid prepared at the Medina Apartments with a spectacular view of the Brisbane Story Bridge. On arriving at Eves we had thundering clouds at the time of the ceremony but we were lucky with a rain free afternoon to watch the couple tie the knot. After the ceremony we took the location photos around the woolstores at Teneriffe.

Reception was also held at Eves on the River and we hung around for the full reception and captured some great dance moves throughout the night.

Wow, wow, wow !!!!!!

We had such a great time photographing the wedding of Emma and Michael on Saturday 20th November 2010.

Our day started out with a warm welcome from Emma’s parents when we arrived at their stunning Woolstore apartment over at Teneriffe. Emma and the girls were running a little behind schedule with their hair and makeup (can’t rush these things!) so Emma’s Mum and Dad gladly let us get cracking on photographing the dress etc while we waited for the girls to arrive. It wasn’t long before a very nervous Emma arrived with her girls and cracked out a bottle of bubbly to calm those wedding day jitters.

After we’d finalised the prep images of the lovely ladies, we headed over to St Johns Cathedral to meet up with Michael and the boys. We usually find the Groom is a bundle of nerves when we arrive (us photographers usually mean that the Bride isn’t far away) however Michael appeared to be cool, calm and collected.

For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of peaking inside St Johns Cathedral, you are missing out. This Cathedral is incredible! What an amazing location to get married.

Once Emma and Michael had been announced as husband and wife and the day’s formalities were completed, it was time to head off and capture some location photos of the happy couple.

Now Emma was a very organised bride (we’re sure Michael helped too) and gave us a list of the some fantastic photo spots around Teneriffe. We were super excited after seeing the location ideas that Emma gave us and we seriously could not have been happier with the results.

We also stayed on to photograph Emma and Michael’s reception at Eve’s on the River. Everyone had fantastic time helping Emma and Michael celebrate their wedding day and I have to say, Michael’s brother gave poor old Michael a bit of a ribbing during his speech – which of course was hilarious.

We managed to also surprise Emma and Michael with a quick slideshow of the images from their special day and we certainly received some wonderful feedback. One of their guests was even screaming out “oh my god” at every image that came up and said she was going to cry. How’s that for feedback!

Emma and Michael – we truly can’t express how happy we were to have been part of your special day. You were both fantastic and its people like you guys that make our job so much fun. We’d like to wish you every happiness for the future and we look forward to catching up with you again soon.

Karen and Mathew’s big day finally arrived on Saturday 16 Oct and there was hardly a cloud in the sky.  Although,  it was a crazy windy day!

The happy couple had decided to hold their ceremony and reception at the Indooroopilly Golf Club and what a fabulous setting for your wedding photographs.

After Karen and Mathew were introduced as husband and wife,  we all jumped in the buggies and headed out on the golf course to capture some images of the newly married couple. Everyone had a great time and a few of the boys had a bit too much fun,  racing each other on the fairway! There was also some scary driving from some of the girls,  but we won’t mention names

This has certainly been a very “wet” wedding season for spring 2010 and the rain was still about on Friday 15 Oct which saw the arrival of Sam and Justin’s special day.

The happy couple had selected Scarborough as the location for their nuptials however wet weather caused a change in plans and the ceremony ended up taking place at the Belvedere Hotel at Woody Point. This was also the location for the couple’s reception and certainly is a great venue.

Fortunately the weather did give us a few moments of light sprinkles so the happy couple and their bridal party were happy to end outside and capture some location photos. While rain does put a dampener on the usual bright and sunny photos which all brides hope for, rainy weather can provide for a gorgeous and romantic setting for the images.

We had a great day with Sam and Justin and we were very proud to be part of their special day.
