Heron Island Wedding Photography {Natasha & Dave}

On July 4th 2013 Natasha and Dave had their wedding day on beautiful Heron Island. Heron Island is a tiny little coral cay only 800m long located 72km north east of Gladstone. Heron Island truly is a wonderful place to escape the rest of the world. It is home to many turtles, a massive grouper called Gus and at least 18 white tip reef sharks that hang around the jetty.

Now back to the Natasha and Dave story. The day was here and I met up with Natasha and Kate in their room where the nerves were high and the champagne was flowing. After grabbing some shots of the dress and the mandatory thongs for beach ceremonies the girls got dressed and we headed outside for a couple photos.

It was time to head to the North Beach where I met up with Dave & Chris who were letting their guests know which direction to go. Dave was pretty relaxed and keen to get things underway. As the guests assembled on the beach the clouds overhead were looking ominous. On queue, as the girls arrived the heavens opened up and dished out a soaking to everyone. Natasha and Dave decided to brave out the rain and continue on with the ceremony. After battling the wind and rain the couple said their I-do’s and had their first kiss as a married couple. Although the signing of the register had to come later in the day due to the rain.

With the formalities over we were off on our location shoot on the island. We started off in the dense trees just inland then wandered along the North Beach towards the resort. Then we cut inland and braved more wind and rain on the jetty and the western beach. With the location photos over and the reception being moved inside due to the weather it was decided that we would have another mini photo shoot the next day.

I’m so glad that Natasha and Dave were happy to get dressed up again and Heron Island really turned the weather on for us with not a sign of the rain from the day before and only beautiful blue sky in every direction. We also timed the shoot to coincide with low tide so we could utilise the sand spit for some photos.

I know I’ve said it before, but I love Heron Island. It’s unique, it’s isolated, it’s beautiful.

Thanks so much for choosing me as your photographer Natasha and Dave. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Enjoy the sneak peek of your photos.
